Overview

Welcome to the Three Hierarchs Orthodox Catholic Theological Seminary, the official house of theological education and priestly formation for the Italo-Greek Byzantine Orthodox Catholic Church in the Americas and Canada. Rooted in the ancient traditions of the Eastern Church and fully faithful to the Orthodox Catholic patrimony, our Seminary exists to form men called to the sacred ministry of the diaconate and priesthood. With deep reverence for the spiritual, liturgical, and theological treasures of the Byzantine and Italo-Greek heritage, we are dedicated to preparing future clergy to serve faithfully, wisely, and compassionately in the vineyard of the Lord.

The Seminary’s primary mission is to provide a rigorous and holistic formation that integrates academic excellence, spiritual maturity, liturgical competence, and pastoral sensitivity. Our curriculum combines in-depth study of Sacred Scripture, Holy Tradition, Patristic theology, canon law, liturgics, and pastoral theology, delivered within the spiritual rhythms of Orthodox Catholic life. Formation at Three Hierarchs is not simply about gaining knowledge; it is about interior transformation—becoming conformed to Christ the High Priest in both heart and mind.

While the Seminary exists primarily to serve the formation needs of the Italo-Greek Byzantine Orthodox Catholic Church, we warmly welcome seminarians from all canonical Orthodox Catholic jurisdictions throughout the world. Our formation program is designed to respect and honor the ecclesiastical disciplines and particular traditions of each jurisdiction, while providing a shared foundation in Orthodox Catholic theology and practice. In this way, Three Hierarchs serves as a unifying center of learning and fraternity for clergy across the diverse Orthodox Catholic world.

At the heart of our Seminary is a profound commitment to the life of prayer and ascetic discipline. Daily services, regular confession and spiritual direction, and a robust communal life are indispensable components of our formation process. We draw inspiration from our patron saints—the Three Holy Hierarchs: St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory the Theologian, and St. John Chrysostom—whose wisdom, holiness, and pastoral zeal continue to shape the life of the Church today.

As we form the next generation of deacons and priests, we do so with an unshakable conviction that the Church deserves shepherds who are well-formed, deeply prayerful, and unwaveringly committed to the Gospel. At Three Hierarchs Orthodox Catholic Theological Seminary, we are humbled to participate in this sacred work of raising up clergy who will be vessels of truth, mercy, and sacrificial love.
